Ensuring Reliable Propane Service for High-Demand Facilities [A Video Case Study]

At DCC Propane, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver seamless solutions for even the most complex projects. Learn more about a recent project we completed for a senior care facility.

At DCC Propane, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver seamless solutions for even the most complex projects. Recently, our team undertook an important project at a senior care center, a facility with significant propane needs. From heating to hot water and fireplaces, this building requires a high BTU load to ensure the comfort and safety of its residents. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we managed this critical operation.

Keeping Propane Service Continuous During System Upgrades

This senior care center relies on a constant propane supply, so it was essential to maintain uninterrupted service while we upgraded their system. The job involved replacing five 1,000-gallon tanks and a vaporizer.

To ensure the facility had a steady supply of propane during the swap, we connected their system to one of our large propane trucks, serving as a temporary “nurse tank.” This setup allowed us to complete the project without disrupting the center’s daily operations—a top priority when working with high-demand systems.

Why Regulator Maintenance Is Critical

Another vital part of the project was inspecting and replacing the system’s high-flow regulators. For a facility with a high BTU draw, keeping regulators up to date is critical for safety and efficiency. Outdated or failing regulators can cause disruptions, something no one wants—especially in an environment where consistent heating and hot water are essential.

As part of the system upgrade, we ensured all regulators were within their date range and installed new high-flow models. This step adds an extra layer of safety and reliability for the care center.

Teamwork in Action

Large-scale projects like this one require a well-coordinated effort. We had two specialized teams working simultaneously:

  • Tank Team: Responsible for pumping propane from the old tanks into the new ones.
  • Vaporizer Team: Focused on removing the outdated vaporizer and installing the new unit.

Each team played a crucial role in ensuring the project’s success, and it’s this multifaceted approach that makes large jobs so rewarding.
