PROJECT AT A GLANCE

DCC Propane (dba Northeast Oil & Propane) works alongside Dimeo Construction to support a large-scale project with propane-powered temporary heat
Large construction projects rarely come with simple requirements. When Dimeo Construction approached us for support with temporary propane heat for a project, we knew the installation itself would be only one part of the job.
The project required stringent insurance, safety, training and site-access requirements, along with a great level of coordination between multiple teams. Successfully completing the installation required careful planning, flexibility and constant communication between DCC Propane, Dimeo Construction and project safety personnel.
Ultimately, our team installed a temporary propane system on time, designed to support the substantial heating demands of the jobsite while meeting its extremely niche and specific safety and operational requirements.
More Than a Standard Temporary Heat Project
Before work could begin, our team had to navigate requirements that went beyond those encountered on many temporary heat installations.
The project operated under the customer’s Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP), which required additional coordination with our legal team and insurance carrier. Personnel working onsite were also subject to specific safety, training and site-access requirements, including current OSHA 10 cards and first-aid certification for the appropriate installation representative.
While meeting these requirements called for additional preparation and coordination, our team was able to navigate the complexities of the process with efficiency.
Building a Temporary Propane System for a High-Demand Jobsite
The completed installation included six 1,000-gallon aboveground propane tanks, configured to supply two temporary heaters rated at 1.4 million BTUs each.
DCC Propane technicians installed the piping connecting the tanks to the heaters, including approximately 10 feet of gas piping per heater.
The installation was only one part of a larger temporary-heating system. Dimeo Construction and our project team coordinated supporting elements such as crash protection, electrical service, ductwork, safety signage, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers.
Throughout the process, DCC Propane worked closely with the project’s safety team to help ensure the propane portion of the installation aligned with site requirements.
Collaboration in the Field
The challenges did not end once installation day arrived.
Site rigging restrictions required DCC Propane to collaborate directly with Dimeo Construction while unloading and positioning the propane tanks. Our team coordinated equipment arrivals, staging and installation activities while communicating with project superintendents throughout the day.
DCC Propane also coordinated with the local building department and fire marshal regarding inspections.
In the field, our technicians worked continuously to complete the installation and prepare the system for its pressure test. Behind the scenes, additional team members helped keep the project moving by coordinating access, staging, inspections and whatever else the installation crew needed throughout the day.
It was a true team effort, and one that did not go unnoticed. Following the installation, the project’s superintendent reached out with praise for the DCC Propane team and the smooth execution of the work.
“Thank you once again for all your hard work and dedication to make this happen. Make sure to come see us soon.”
What Dependable Propane Partnership Looks Like
Temporary heat for a large construction project goes beyond delivering propane tanks and connecting equipment.
Projects like this need a propane provider that can handle demanding construction conditions, coordinate with contractors and safety teams, adapt to changing requirements, and remain involved through installation and inspection.
For DCC Propane, the Dimeo Construction project demonstrated exactly that.
Despite additional insurance, safety, access and logistical requirements, our team worked together with Dimeo to get the installation completed and positioned the project for its temporary heating needs.
That’s what being a dependable propane partner means: not just supplying the fuel, but doing our part to keep projects moving and help our customers meet their schedules and deadlines.
